Appraisal and Development Conversations (ADC) now live
The new Appraisal and Development Conversations (ADC) process superseded PDPR from Thursday 1 August 2019. ADC is a year-round conversation framework supporting staff performance, wellbeing and objectives.
Lord Dearing Award Winners 2019
Congratulations to the winners of the 2019 Lord Dearing Awards. The Lord Dearing Award Scheme has, since 1999, acknowledged the world-class contribution made by University staff to creating a learning environment which is nurturing as well as challenging, creative and innovative.
Nominations open for the Black Achievers Award 2019
The Black Achievers Awards were initiated in 2012 by Nottingham City Councillor, Merlita Bryan. This year, the University will be sponsoring the Learning, Skills and Employment Award. Previous winners of this category include nursing alumna Aquiline Chivinge, who was recognised for her work at Nottingham University Hospital as a positive role model for BME staff and students.Nominations for all categories close on Friday 9 August.
Nottingham Reward Scheme is live
The scheme allows colleagues and line managers to nominate University employees from across all job families for rewards which recognise outstanding work. This has been developed in partnership with staff, and is entirely separate to the new Appraisal Development Conversations (ADC) process.
Changes to bank holidays and University closure days in the 2019/20 academic year
The pattern of bank holidays and University closure days has changed for the academic year commencing September 2019 and ending August 2020. Colleagues who work part time should note that this could affect their bank holiday leave calculations, depending on their usual working days.
Information Services news update — August 2019
Information Services are asking for help identifying systems using Saturn before it is archived. They have shared upcoming changes to the University print service, remote desktop gateway and given notice of dedicated support forms for Campus Solutions and MyNottingham in their August update.
Anne McLaren and Nottingham Research Fellowships — apply now
Nottingham Fellowships are recruiting 100 Nottingham and Anne McLaren Research Fellows. These prestigious fellowships bring world-class talent to the University and offer outstanding people already here the opportunity to develop their career.
White Paper consultation for the new University Strategy
Colleagues are invited to contribute to the white paper consultation — the next stage in the development of our new University strategy. The input from the University community to this consultation will help to refine and finalise the new University strategy by December 2019. 
Policy Impact and Public Engagement Awards
These awards highlight the excellent work by researchers and academics on all campuses in achieving policy impact and engaging the public with current research. Both self-nominations and nominations made on behalf of peers and colleagues are invited.

The categories for the awards are: Rising star award – policy impact; Rising star award – public engagement; Best policy impact initiative; Best public engagement initiative; Keystone award

The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday 23 August.

Spotlight on... our international campuses
Three UNNC alumni played in the 2019 Asia and Oceanic Ultimate and Guts Championships as part of China's national team. Yang Gao, Xiaofei Wang and Shengyi Zhao are not full-time trained athletes in flying disc sports and were shortlisted from over 200 candidates nationwide. In their latest game against Malaysia, they won 13:11 and got through to the semi-finals.
Nottingham Engaged 2019: Celebrate and Aspire
Brought to you by the University of Nottingham Institute for Policy and Engagement, the conference is aimed at researchers, academics and professional staff across all disciplines working in or supporting policy impact and public engagement. The day will offer a range of training options to suit all experience levels.

This year's theme of 'Celebrate and Aspire' aims to showcase some of the outstanding policy impact and public engagement that is happening across the University, and inspire you with new ideas from local and national experts.
