Campus update
Campus Update is a fortnightly all-staff email keeping you up to date with news from around the University. Here, you'll find important messages for staff, as well as some highlights from our community and events.
Staff Room an easier way to stay informed
The Vice-Chancellor has introduced Staff Room, an online information hub for colleagues at our UK campuses. This new internal communication channel provides essential news, information and links to University services. Designed through extensive consultation with staff of all grades and job families, it will automatically appear in browser windows or can be accessed at www.nottingham.ac.uk/staffroom. Tell us your news and suggest new content by emailing campusnews@nottingham.ac.uk.
The VC's blog  assessing progress on the staff covenant
As we approach the first anniversary of the covenant proposed by the Vice-Chancellor, in her latest blog post Professor Shearer West assesses progress on work to improve trust, transparency, engagement and support for our staff community across the University.
HR staff consultation hub  have your say
Human Resources has introduced a new way to have your say on significant changes to policies and support for staff at the University. The HR Consultation Hub contains information, links, events and forms for staff to use to give their views on changes, appraisal, rewards, wellbeing and the current Race Equality Charter survey — the University's largest ever survey into racial equality on campus.
Academic promotions 2018/19
Congratulations to all colleagues who secured academic promotions in the 2018/19 round. More than 150 staff have been promoted, with a significant increase in the proportion of women - an increase of 10 percentage points to more than 47% of all academic promotions.
Become a Dignity Advisor
Are you a good listener with a passion for supporting students and colleagues? If so, why not become a Dignity Advisor? This is a voluntary role requiring a few hours' commitment per month during work time.
University pledge to address BAME student attainment gap
Vice-Chancellor Professor Shearer West has joined university Vice-Chancellors and Principals around the country in signing up to a new pledge to address the black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) student attainment gap in UK higher education.
Wonder is back in 2019  save the date
On Saturday 15 June the University is once again opening its doors to curious minds of all ages for a free, fun day of discovery — Wonder. This event provides an opportunity for the local community to come and find out about our groundbreaking research and teaching and try out a huge range of interactive activities.
Renaming the Teaching and Learning Building — nominations open
As announced on International Women’s Day 2019, we’re renaming the Teaching and Learning Building after an inspirational woman. Now’s your chance to get involved by making a nomination. We’re looking for nominations of women from history who have made significant contributions to teaching, learning or research — particularly those who have a link to Nottingham and/or the University.
Information Services news
Information Services has shared news of some updates taking place over the next few months — including Windows 10 Self Service rollout, Sophos anti-virus software upgrade on all University computers, access restrictions coming soon to Secure Shell, and an Agresso upgrade.

Nottingham backed research impact and influence
This year has seen exciting growth for Nottingham Technology Ventures (NTV) – the organisation which manages the University’s interest in a portfolio of 18 spin-out companies. In a new blog post, NTV CEO Andy Naylor discusses the University’s landmark year.
Spotlight on... our international campuses
University of Nottingham Ningbo China has hosted the Sino-UK Health Forum, welcoming well-known scholars, policy makers and industry leaders from across the world to discuss prominent topics including China's health care reforms. Read more.
Sarawak Energy has signed a three-year research collaboration agreement with University of Nottingham Malaysia. The research project will focus on downstream flow regimes in the Baleh River where the 1,285MW hydro Baleh hydroelectric plant is being built, and will include assessments and recommendations for environmental flows. Read more.
Event of the week Nottingham Women Expert Network
The next event for the Nottingham Women Expert Network (N-WEN) will take place on Thursday 23 May at Jubilee campus. N-WEN is a joint initiative with Nottingham Trent University designed to boost the visibility of the many talented women in Nottingham with expertise to share. All are welcome to attend this event.
And finally...
During May, University of Nottingham featured in a new two-part series on the BBC - Our Dementia Choir. Choir rehearsals have continued following the documentary with a fundraising appeal set up to provide weekly singing lessons for members.
